Perhaps a textured surface for one and smooth for the other.Symbols could be printed on the pieces to aid the sighted.The rook could be a plus sign denoting its move like the bishop.The knight could be just 8 dots denoting the octagon of its move. The diagonal pairs close together so they fall under one finger.
